BAD DOG!
I recently watched my sister-in-laws dog, who we affectionately call "Bad Dog". Cause every time we turned around she was doing something naughty. Mostly eating something! I laugh over the posts of 2 year olds being tornadoes and I wanted to put a post about dog's also being tornadoes but, we still love them.
This dog is very old, she can't hear, or see very well anymore. She has growths on her body that I'm sure gives the groomer a difficult time, if the groomer were to shave one off, it could be messy. She has a growth on the inside of her ear that will not heal and bleeds.
But, she is well loved and well taken care of by her Mommy! She arrives with doggy bed, medicine, ear wash, leash, dog food and doggie treats.
First thing she does when arriving, is canvas the house with her nose. You know how they say that when one of your senses isn't working, the other ones are more acute. I believe this dog has a very good sense of smell. Within 24 hours she ate the dental floss in the bathroom garbage can, went down into the storage room, where it is very dark and found a bag of noodles that she proceeded to tear open. I happened to notice her venturing into the basement and caught her before she could eat any.
We left the bathroom door open and the cupboard door was ajar, she pulled out a bag of women's pads and ate; we don't know how many of these before the cotton filled her up.
I thought that my purse was high enough out of reach that she couldn't get to it.....not.....2 packs of gum. So now she has gum and cotton in her stomach.
But she topped it off with 18 chocolate zucchini cupcakes that were in baggies on the kitchen table. All the chairs were tucked in, she managed to get one wedged out enough for her to get on the table. She was thinking though and took the bag under the table to devour this delicacy. Short Dog might have helped some.
What am I going to tell my sister-in-law, your dog succumbed to cotton, floss, gum, chocolate poisoning?
This dog has an iron stomach and she survived. Whew! The cleanup in the yard was interesting!
But when she looks at you with her cloudy eyes and a happy face, how can I get mad! When she follows you around the house like she is your best friend, can't get mad. When she is laying there sleeping all innocent, can't get mad.
So standard procedure before going to bed or leaving the dog in the house: Close bedroom doors, close bathroom door, close basement door, push all chairs under table, put anything smelly on the washer or dryer, put garbage cans on the dryer, put stair guard up in doorway to living room to keep her confined to kitchen, (which she can jump, therefore close the bedroom doors) and hope she has a good night!
She has gone home now, but I will be ready for her when she comes to visit again!
