Engagement pictures!

We took engagement pictures on Saturday in the desert. First thing we had to do was find a place where there wasn't any snow. So because there is snow in the desert, do you think it is cold? Dang right it is cold!!!! Again, our pictures will have blue hands. Try as my girls tried for summer weddings, they didn't find heat, they have all had to endure the cold for pictures. ie. Dec wedding and March. April isn't quite summer.
The kids had this cute idea for pictures and it involved hauling Grandma Gibson's furniture out into the sand. Thank you Grandma Gibson for loaning us your beloved furniture. I hope the sand will come off, eventually!
The sky threatened to snow on us, and the wind blew, but, we got some really cute pictures. Our photographer (Tony) and videographer (Mike). Went coatless... In order to get the "money" shot, you have to suffer a little. Thanks guys for being so tough. They had coats, you just can't wear them for the perfect shot!
Kevin and I exercised our parental card and hid in the truck for the last 45 minutes where it was warm. I can't wait to see the "real" pictures!

Changes

I have been thinking about changes in our life a lot lately, due to two weddings, a new grandbaby on the way, kids moving and a quieter house. Then I ran into a friend in the grocery store who has had some challenges with changes and I had to sit down and write this! Thanks for inspiring me D, and hang in there!

Changes
We start out as a little princess in our parent's eyes!
From crawling, to running and chasing butterflies!
We are sweet and loving as little girls can be!
While throwing ball, building forts and playing army.
One day it's curls and bows and lacy stockings.
Dollies and strollers and tea party sittings.
Tomorrow will be ponytails, Levis' and flip-flops.
Cowboys, Indians and paratropper airdrops.
At school I can sit quiet and be real helpful.
Until I punch the boy who just stole my pencil.
I want to be loving and kind and polite.
Can I wrestle, play ball, and hunt with a knife?
So many choices of who I want to be.
A little of each is the choice for me.
When along comes a man and I become a wife.
Add a few adorable children to fill up my life.
Laundry, dishes, lessons and car pools.
Chores, homework and teach them some rules.
Most days are happy, while some are sad.
I try to stay positive and never get mad.
Then the kids learn to drive and stay out all night.
They stretch their wings and grow to full height.
Deliver lunches, money, go shopping and movies.
Discussions, debates, advice and agreements.
A child, a sister, a mother, a mother-in-law.
A Friend, a counselor, a sheriff and Grandma.
Sports director, chef, maid and chauffer.
I'm a Doctor, a counselor and a hair dresser.
The house is empty and it's just us two.
Where do we go and what do we do?
So many choices of who I want to be.
So many me's to sort and set free.
I'm not really crazy, just surviving the changes.
Look at how many I've had through the ages!

Wedding plans update.

Shopping, shopping, shopping. I hate shopping! We are getting so much done though and I love to be with Morgan all day long, wandering the malls, looking for the perfect dress, hair piece, earrings, lunch, aching feet, aching back, headache, all to create the perfect reception. I did this for Tiffany and Jamie and now Morgan.
In 2 months, Morgan will spend all of her time with Chase and I will be left waiting for a phone call from my girls, or a lunch date, movie night, can we come over for dinner, (which by the way, you kids are welcome 24/365). Life is changing and I am excited for Morgan to get married, Tiff to have a baby and move and Jamie to ride bikes and run this summer.
Morgan has ideas of what she wantsfor her wedding, but is flexible, which I am extremely grateful for. She is growing up and will do marveleous as a wife and homemaker.
So.....The wedding dress is being hemmed.
We have been back to River Oaks to stategize.
And the engagement pictures will be taken on Sat.
All goes well!
